about

Ten years ago, I wrote an instrumental piece that had been sitting in my head for a long, long time, awaiting inspiration. "Luna's Redemption" - a Wendy Carlos inspired synth track that became a part of "Seeds of Kindness," the incredibly successful charity album that raised $200,000 to build a medical clinic in Burundi.

Last September, my home got hit by Hurricane Ida, as many of you already know. Fans of my music, and the MLP community in general really came through for me and my family, and helped us get back on our feet. For that, I am eternally grateful.

However, it was months before the basement was declared mold free, so I had no place to set up my computer desk. The second that Roto Rooter cleared out, I built my desk, and set up my gear, such as I could. There weren't even any walls yet - just concrete foundation in the dead of winter.

I couldn't haul my large keyboard downstairs myself, so I used my spare, which happened to have a broken G key. I started playing Luna's Redemption again because it was the only piece I could think of off the top of my head that was in the key of Eb minor - a key unlikely to need a G. This started a whole new journey, and ended up becoming the song I'm sending you here, "Redemptio Lunae."

Production was interrupted by different waves of construction, but I'm glad to say that now, seven months after Ida, my family is slowly getting back to normal.

Being almost ten years exactly since the release of Luna's Redemption, and five years since I've made a song that was connected to My Little Pony in any way, this song is sort of a retrospective for me - a way to look back and see how I've improved as a producer and as a composer. Apart from the melody, and the general mournful yet hopeful mood, it bares little resemblance to "Luna's Redemption," but I feel they compliment one another well.

Enjoy. Thank you all for your support during these hard times.
